Specific Explanation:
The Director of Houston Public Works recommends that City Council approve an ordinance authorizing an additional appropriation of $7,318,862.72 out of the Water & Sewer System Consolidation Construction Fund (8500) for the purchase of water meters and water meter replacement parts, such as measuring chambers, auto shut-off valves, rotor assemblies, gear train assemblies, calibration vane stem gears, spindles, inlet and outlet assembly parts, and drive pinons to be used by the department to replace and repair water meters city wide.
The additional appropriation will be used towards several awarded contract vendors: Badger Meter, Inc.; Itron, Inc.; KROHNE, Inc.; Siemens Industry, Inc.; Sensus USA, Inc.; ABB, Inc.; and Neptune Technology Group, Inc.
Fiscal Note:
No significant Fiscal Operating impact is anticipated as a result of this project.
