ORDINANCE appropriating $1,027,144. 91 out of the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund (8500) for payment of an Emergency Purchase Order for sinkhole repair at the WCID No. 47 Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Specific Explanation:
The Director of Houston Public Works recommend that City Council approve an ordinance authorizing the appropriation of $1,027,144. 91 out of the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund for payment of an Emergency Purchase Order for sinkhole repair at the WCID No. 47 Wastewater Treatment Plant.
A significant sinkhole occurred around and under the Administration Building at the WCID No. 47 Wastewater Treatment Plant on November 8, 2019. The depth of the washout exceeded twenty feet and required immediate repair. The repair work included building stabilization, by-pass pump installation to divert the flow of wastewater around the damaged area, and repairs to pump and system access points. Industrial TX was chosen as the best firm to respond to the emergency due to their familiarity with the treatment plant and their proposed cost was within the cost range.
While this action seeks approval of an Ordinance for the appropriation of funds, a subsequent action from the CPO and HPW Director will be brought before City Council to approve a Motion for the payment to the contractor.
Fiscal Note:
No significant Fiscal Operating impact is anticipated as a result of this project.
