RECOMMENDATION: Appropriate funds for the project.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: The General Services Department recommends that City Council appropriate $8,600.00 out of the Miscellaneous Capital Projects/Acquisitions CP Series E Fund for Hurricane Harvey Damage Repairs for Oak Forest Library, for the Houston Public Library.
PROJECT LOCATION: 1349 W 43rd St, Houston, TX 77018
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: On August 26, 2017, flood waters from Hurricane Harvey flooded Oak Forest Neighborhood Library causing interior damage. Wind driven rain that leaked through the roof and/or flashing entered the Children’s Section, Teen Area and main entrance of the building. The project will reseal, waterproof, clean and disinfect aluminum windows; repair and replace existing wall aluminum trim panels, fiber mat flooring, door sweep and weather-strip; replace damaged acoustical ceiling tiles; replace damaged ceiling mounted security cameras; and replace damaged electrical and data wiring as required for new installation.
DISASTER RECOVERY NOTE: This item is related to the impact of Hurricane Harvey DR4332, and it is the City’s intent to seek reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (“FEMA”) and other eligible sources for such expenditures.
CIP FISCAL NOTE: No significant Fiscal Operating impact is anticipated as a result of this project.
