(approved by No. 2015-0663, passed on July 8, 2015) to increase the maximum contract amount from $350,000 to $435,000, extend the contract term from October 15, 2020 to October 14, 2021 and to add additional testing services for Laboratory Testing Services for the Houston Health Department.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:
The Director of the Houston Health Department and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that City Council approve an ordinance authorizing a first amendment to the contract between the City of Houston and Quest Diagnostics Clinical Laboratories, Inc. to increase the maximum contract amount from $350,000 to $435,000, extend the contract term from October 15, 2020 to October 14, 2021 and to add additional testing services for Laboratory Testing Services for the Houston Health Department.
This contract was awarded on July 8, 2015, for a three-year term, with two (2) one-year renewal options in the amount of $350,000. On July 7, 2020, the contract was extended for an additional 90-day period. Additional spending authority is required to cover costs of additional testing services. The first amendment contract extension shall allow services to continue until October 14, 2021. All other terms and conditions of the contract shall remain the same.
The scope of work requires the contractor to provide Hematology/Clinical Chemistry/Microbiology specimen testing for the Houston Health Department (HHD) Center for Community Health Services (CCHS) and Tuberculosis (TB) programs to include a wide range of testing services. This agreement provides critical laboratory tests for Community Health Services (CHS) and Tuberculosis (TB) programs. It is the City’s objective to provide this valuable service to its citizenry and reap the overall mobility, sustainability and liability benefits.
