Agenda Item#: 26.

Summary:

ORDINANCE establishing the south side of the 2800-2900 block of Barbee Street, within the City of Houston, Texas, as a special minimum lot size block pursuant to Chapter 42 of the Code of Ordinances, Houston, Texas - DISTRICT D - EVANS-SHABAZZ

Background:

In accordance with Section 42-197 of the Code of Ordinances, the President of the Washington Terrace Civic Association, which encompasses the south side of the 2800-2900 block of Barbee Street, Lots 1-10, Block 30, of the Washington Terrace Subdivision and Lot 1, Block 1, of the University Townhomes Amending Plat No. 1, initiated an application for the designation of a Special Minimum Lot Size Block (SMLSB). The application includes written evidence of support from the owners of 57% of the block. The Planning and Development Department mailed notifications to property owners of eleven (11) lots indicating that the SMLSB application had been submitted. The notification further stated that written protest must be filed with the Planning and Development Department within thirty days of mailing. Since no protest was filed, in accordance with the Code, no action is required by the Houston Planning Commission, the application may be submitted directly to City Council for consideration.

The Planning and Development Department recommends that City Council adopt an ordinance establishing a Special Minimum Lot Size of 5,250 square feet for the 2800-2900 block of Barbee Street, south side.
