SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:
The Chief Information Officer recommends that City Council approve an ordinance to appropriate $50,000.00 from the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund (1800) to purchase Network Security Tools for Houston Information Technology Services. The following project is budgeted in the approved FY2020 Capital Improvement Plan adopted by City Council.

The purchase of a network management and security software that will allow Houston Information Technology Services to securely support the City’s infrastructure. Purchases made for this will support the policies, procedures and practices initiated by EO 1-48 and would help reduce the risk of unauthorized access to COH systems, data and information. HITS will work with the Strategic Purchasing Division (SPD) to procure the software, and we will return to council for approval as needed.
Fiscal Note:
No significant Fiscal Operating impact is anticipated as a result of this project.
