Request approval for injury on duty leave (Salary Continuation) extension for Senior Captain Paramedic Kevin Leago.
Senior Captain Paramedic Kevin Leago was diagnosed with an Occupational Disease in October 2017, at which time he filed a claim with Workers’ Compensation Third Party Administrator. Senior Captain Kevin Leago’s claim was initially determined not to be a work-related injury; however, a ruling in August 2019 reversed the decision of the Workers’ Compensation Third Party Administrator.
During the period of dispute resolution Senior Captain Paramedic Kevin Leago was off work, intermittently, for one-year injury between October 28, 2017-December 25, 2018. Senior Captain Paramedic Kevin Leago completed one year of injury leave on December 26, 2018. After initial year, City Council approval is required. As such, this request is to approve leave beginning September 3, 2019 through November 1, 2019, which will result in the amount of $3,323.84. On November 1, 2019 Senior Captain Kevin Leago reached statutory maximum medical improvement.
