The City of Houston Chief Recovery Officer and the Director of the Solid Waste Management Department recommend that City Council approve the amended interlocal agreement to coordinate efforts between the City of Houston, Harris County Flood Control District and Harris County to remove Hurricane Harvey storm related debris from HCFCD and County waterways which traverse the City.
Hurricane Harvey and its associated events produced high winds and heavy rains causing extensive storm related disaster debris. The Hurricane Harvey related disaster debris located in HCFCD and County waterways within the City has created an immediate and ongoing threat to the public health and safety of Houston residents, and should be collected, reduced and disposed of in the interest and welfare of City and County residents.
