The City Purchasing Agent recommends that City Council approve an ordinance authorizing a third amendment to the contract between the City of Houston and American Bottling Company of Texas to extend the contract term from November 1, 2014 to January 31, 2015 for Soft Drink Marketing Partnership for the City of Houston.
This contract was awarded on July 7, 2004 for a five-year term, with one additional five-year option to extend, for a total 10-year term. The contract was subsequently amended on July 3, 2007 via Ordinance No. 2007-816 to provide additional product offerings. A second amendment was approved on June 25, 2014, by Ordinance No. 2014-658, to extend the contract term from July 15, 2014 to October 31, 2014.
The scope of work requires the contractor to provide all labor, supplies, materials, equipment, transportation, and supervision necessary to supply the City with approximately 320 soft drink machines at 150 locations citywide, including park facilities, community centers, health clinics, administrative buildings and airports. To date, revenue under this contract has been $2,881,136.00. This contract extension will allow services to continue until a new contract is awarded. It is anticipated that the new contract will be in place within the next 120 days.
This contact was awarded with a 15% M/WBE participation goal and American Bottling Company of Texas is currently achieving 30.62% of the required goal. The Office of Business Opportunity will continue to monitor this contract to ensure maximum M/WBE participation.
