SUBJECT: Accept work for FY2014 Local Drainage Project Construction Work Orders #1.
RECOMMENDATION: (SUMMARY) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of $3,144,496.70 or 4.82% over the original contract amount, accept the work and authorize final payment.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project was part of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and was required to meet local storm water drainage system improvements and repairs citywide
PREVIOUS HISTORY: This project consisted of local storm water drainage system improvements citywide. It also addressed certain large-scale storm water drainage system repairs. The project was awarded to T. Construction, LLC, with an original contract amount of $1,500,000.00 and an additional appropriation of $1,500,000.00, for a revised total contract amount of $3,000,000.00 . The contract duration for this project was 730 calendar days.
LOCATION: The project areas are in various locations in Council Districts A, B, D, E, G, H, I, K.
CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, T Construction, LLC, has completed the work under the subject contract. The project was completed on time with an additional 730 days approved by Change Order Nos. 1 and 4. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price quantities and previously approved by Change Order Nos. 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9 is $3,144,496.70, an increase of $144,496.70 or 4.82% over the total contract amount and under 5% contingency.
The increased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities.
M/WSBE PARTICIPATION: The advertised M/WBE contract goal for this project was 18%. The M/WBE plan established for this project was 19.00%. According to Office of Business Opportunity, the participation was 28.76% . The contractor's performance evaluation was rated Satisfactory.
