The City of Houston Mitigation Action Plan, adopted via resolution by Houston City Council on February 28, 2018, requires an edit to allow for Hurricane Harvey Recovery and Mitigation projects. Specifically, the plan must be edited to include a proposed action supporting the construction of flood damage reduction projects consisting of two high flow diversion channels, high flow overflow channels, detention basins, channel widening, and bridge replacement, widening and/or elevation. Projects may include acquisition of properties and flowage easements.
The update to the plan will allow for the City of Houston to maximize the opportunity to tap into recovery funding and advance the flood resiliency projects to reduce flood risk.
Section 4 of the adopted resolution states that any needed adjustments to this plan be presented to the City Council for consideration.
