The Chief Information Officer recommends that City Council approve an ordinance to appropriate $3,476,000.00 from the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund (1800) for HITS Enterprise Infrastructure division. These appropriations are budgeted in the approved FY19 Capital Improvement Plan adopted by City Council.
The project descriptions with allocations are as follows:

1. Network Spares X-680032 $40,000.00
The purchase of spare network switches to avoid outages in the event an existing device fails. Having the spare switches on hand reduces downtime and provides secure efficient business operations by mitigating network threats and outage, as well as manage network traffic and capacity issues.
2. Network Security Tools X-680023 $50,000.00
Network management and security software will resolve access problems to wired and wireless networks. These tools are needed to allow the network team to securely support the City's network infrastructure. HITS is currently working with Strategic Purchasing Division (SPD) and dependent upon vendor selection will return to Council for spending authority, as appropriate.
3. EGIS Infrastructure Refresh X-680037 $268,000.00
Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) infrastructure upgrades; replacing existing out of warranty servers and other equipment. HITS is currently working with Strategic Purchasing Division (SPD) and dependent upon vendor selection will return to Council for spending authority, as appropriate.
4. SAP Open Enrollment Server Storage X-680041 $268,000.00
The purchase of additional servers and storage hardware to support the implementation and support requirements needed for SAP Open Enrollment. HITS is currently working with Strategic Purchasing Division (SPD) and dependent upon vendor selection will return to Council for spending authority, as appropriate.
5. Network Refresh X-680015 $2,850,000.00
Purchase and deployment of new network switches to replace switches that have reached end of life/ support in the environment and to move towards a mainatainable 7-year refresh cycle for network equipment.
Fiscal Note
Funding for these items are included in the FY2019 Capital Improvement Plan budget.
