Background:
Settlement approval is requested for this matter, which will resolve a claim filed with the City of Houston Legal Department. Jason and Paula Norbeck, the subject claimants, have filed a claim against the City of Houston for property damages occurring on August 7, 2018. The claimants allege that employees in the Houston Public Works Department negligently used motor driven equipment and while clearing a sewer line pumped sewage into the claimant’s home. The claimants seek to recover for alleged damages to their home and personal items.
Based on the lowest of three damage estimates claimant was required to obtain, I recommend this matter be settled for $80,946.97 with warrant made payable to Jason Norbeck and Paula Norbeck 7342 Shady Grove Lane, Houston, TX 77040.
Fiscal Note:
Funding for this item is included in the FY2019 Adopted Budget. Therefore, no Fiscal Note is required as stated in the Financial Policies.
