Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Director Houston Public Works for approval of final contract amount of $626,357.69 and acceptance of work on contract with PORTLAND UTILITIES CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, LLC for Wastewater Collection System Rehabilitation and Renewal - 0.74% under the original Contract amount (4235-45) - DISTRICTS B - DAVIS; C - COHEN, D - BOYKINS; G - TRAVIS; H - CISNEROS and I - GALLEGOS

Background:

SUBJECT: Accept Wastewater Collection System Rehabilitation and Renewal.

 

RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $626,357.69, which is 0.74% under the original contract amount, accept the work, and authorize final payment.

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: Under this project, the contractor provided wastewater collection system rehabilitation and renewal to deteriorated sewer collection systems throughout the City.

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of wastewater collection system rehabilitation and renewal. The project was awarded to Portland Utilities Construction Company, LLC with an original contract amount of $631,024.80. The Notice to Proceed date was 06/23/2010 and the project had 540 calendar days for completion.

 

LOCATION: This work order project was located at various locations within Council Districts B, C, D, G, H and I.

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The contractor, Portland Utilities Construction Company, LLC, has completed the work under the contract. The contract was completed within the contract time with an additional 450 days approved by Change Orders No. 3, No. 4, and No. 8. The final cost of the project is $626,357.69, a decrease of $4,667.11 or 0.74% under the original contract amount. Less point repairs and pipe replacement were needed than anticipated.

 

The final amount of this work order contract was not affected by Change Orders No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6, No. 7, No. 8 and No. 9.            

 

MWDBE PARTICIPATION:  No City M/WBE participation goal was established for this project as the contract amount did not exceed the threshold of $1,000,000.00 required for a goal oriented contract per Section 15-82 of the Code of Ordinances.
