SUBJECT: Accept Work for FY2016 Ditch Rehab Work Order #1.
RECOMMENDATION: (SUMMARY) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of $1,595,172.20 or 0.30% under the original Contract Amount and accept the Work.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project was part of the Houston Public Works, Storm Water Maintenance Branch program and is required to clean and inspect existing underground storm sewer system.
PREVIOUS HISTORY: The original contract was approved by City Council on September 9, 2015 by Ordinance 2015-0854. City Council also approved a first amendment along with an additional allocation of funds on March 31, 2016, Ordinance 2016-0208, the amendment approved the extension of time to allow the ongoing work orders to be completed. This project consisted of removing all debris that was obstructing the flow of storm water and inspecting and televising storm sewer lines. The Work Orders were provided on an on-call basis to rehab the City’s ditch systems. The contractor has de-silted and regraded approximately 8 miles of ditch lines in various locations throughout the City. The City of Houston designed the project with 700 calendar days allowed for construction. The project was awarded to T Construction LLC with an original Contract Amount of $800,000.00, with an additional allocation of $800,000.00 through the first amendment.

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, T Construction LLC, has completed the work under the subject Contract. The project was completed within the original Contract time. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price is $1,595,172.20, a decrease of $4,827.80 or 0.30% under the original Contract Amount. The decreased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities.
M/WSBE PARTICIPATION: No City M/WBE participation goal is established for this project as the contract amount does not exceed the threshold of $1,000,000.00 required for a goal oriented contract per Section 15-82 of the Code of Ordinances.
