RECOMMENDATION: The General Services Department recommends approval of final contract amount of $546,775.00 and acceptance of work on contract with Times Construction, Inc. for Glenshire Park – .88% over the original contract amount and under the 5% contingency.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: The General Services Department recommends that City Council approve the final contract amount of $546,775.00 or .88% over the original contract amount, accept the work and authorize final payment to Times Construction, Inc. for construction services relating to Glenshire Park for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department.
PROJECT LOCATION: 12100 Riceville School Rd. (570E)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project constructed a new 16,000 square foot parking lot with 72 spaces including three handicapped spaces, with underground gravel drainage, water detention system, new trail connections, tree plantings, landscaping and irrigation installation.
Lauren Griffith, Inc. was the design consultant for this project.
CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The contractor completed the project within the original contract time of 180 days. The final cost of the project including Change Order No. 1 is $546,775.00, an increase of $4,775.00 over the original contract amount.
PREVIOUS CHANGE ORDER: Change Order No. 1 removed and replaced painted striping with paved markings to delineate the parking spaces and reduce future maintenance; painted bench posts and brackets; and replaced bench slats on two existing benches.
M/W/SBE PARTICIPATION: This contract is exempt from the M/WBE subcontracting provisions because the value of the contract did not exceed the threshold of $1 million required for a goal oriented contract as provided in §15-82 of the Houston Code of Ordinances.
