SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:
The Chief Information Officer recommends that City Council approve an ordinance to appropriate $585,000.00 from the Contributed Capital Project Fund (4515) and $922,000.00 from the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund (1800) for the following planned projects for Houston Information Technology Services.
The project descriptions with allocations are as follows:

1. Server Storage and Equipment X-680022* $510,000.00
For the purchase of servers, storage and data back-up equipment as part of a planned asset refresh project. The new components will help alleviate current operational performance issues and will ensure business continuity and data backup compliance requirements.
2. Conference Room Technology X-680056* $75,000.00
For the purchase of six Microsoft Surface Hub units for deployment into various conference rooms. This will modernize the conference room technology and enable fully digital meeting experiences, including integrated camera/speakers for web conferencing, digital whiteboard, wireless connection for sharing presentations and other files, etc.
3. IT Help Desk Software Upgrades X-680038* $107,000.00
For the implementation of additional modules to the current Help Desk Software application, ServiceNow. These modules include Asset Management and preliminary scoping efforts for Governance, Risk, and Compliance.
4. ARA- Houston Permitting Center X-650013* $815,000.00
Provides professional services to plan, design, implement and manage the migration of ARA’s permitting, licensing, business licensing and code enforcement functions to Infor Public Sector (IPS) Community Development and Regulation (CDR). This project will eliminate the legacy application (Customer Data Portal, CDP), and will provide needed efficiency improvements in ARA’s permitting and inspection processes. It will also further build on the existing Infor application solution investment and continue executing the strategy of standardizing software by expanding use of citywide solutions.
Fiscal Note
These items are included in the FY2019 Capital Improvement Plan budget with no operational impact.
