The Chief of Police for the Houston Police Department (HPD) recommends that City Council approve an ordinance to appropriate $400,000 from the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund (Fund1800). This appropriation is budgeted in the FY2019 Capital Improvement Plan Budget approved by City Council on June 26, 2018.
On January 11, 2017, City Council approved under Ordinance No. 2017-0037 the contract between the City and Enforcement Video, LLC d/b/a WatchGuard Video for the purchase of an in-car video camera solution that includes mobile cameras mounted on patrol vehicles, all software, hardware, and services delivered as a single solution. This appropriation of $400,000 from the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund, will be used to purchase its last installation of 94 in-car dash video cameras and associate equipment.
Fiscal Note: No significant Fiscal Operating impact is anticipated as a result of this project.
