The contractor, United Restoration and Preservation, Inc. has completed all the work required under their contract in the amount of $8,897,998.00 for the repair of the parking structure at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). During construction, the project was managed and inspected by Houston Airport Systems (HAS) personnel.
The final contract amount, including Change Order Nos. 1-10, is $9,278,267.84, which is 4.27% over the original contract amount and under the 10% contingency amount. The changes were primarily due to unforeseen conditions that were undetermined at the time of design. This necessitated additional resources such as installing new waterproof epoxy overlay on level two, adding concrete materials to the new ramps between the existing helix and garage, adding additional concrete material to exposed post tension cables at various levels, and adding electrical boxes between existing expansion joints. The work was completed on schedule within the contract time.
United Restoration and Preservation, Inc. achieved 16.69% M/SBE participation on a 15% goal and received a “Satisfactory” compliance rating from the Office of Business Opportunity.
Whitlock, Dalrymple, Poston & Associates, Inc. was the project design consultant.
