The Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) recommend that City Council approve an amending ordinance authorizing a first amendment to the Tower Lease Agreement between the City of Houston and Crown Communication Inc. to increase the spending authority by $472,695.84 from $473,028.36 to $945,724.20 for the Lease of Ground Space for a Communications Tower for Houston Information Technology Services (HITS).
This contract was awarded on December 2, 2009 by Ordinance No. 2009-1226, for a ten-year professional services tower lease agreement with two five-year renewal options in the original amount of $473,028.36. Expenditures as of June 14, 2018 totaled $468,774.54. The original allocation amount covered expenses through the initial contract term. HITS is requesting allocation to cover the first five-year optional renewal period.
The tower lease agreement with Crown Communication Inc. allows HITS to lease ground space for a tower, maintain and operate communications equipment, including antennas, cables, connectors, radios, related transmission and reception hardware on the Crown tower located in the City of Rosharon.
The scope of work requires the contractor to allow the Radio Communications Division of HITS to install equipment on one (1) communications tower and ground space in connection with the public safety radio system located at 9220 Tigner Road, Rosharon, Texas; containing findings and other provisions related to the subject; and declaring an emergency.
Fiscal Note:
Funding for this item is included in the FY2018 Adopted Budget. Therefore, no Fiscal Note is required as stated in the Financial Policy Ord. 2014-1078.
