RECOMMENDATION: The General Services Department recommends approval of final contract amount of $999,337.50 and acceptance of work on contract with Level Infrastructure, LLC for Braeburn Glen Park Parking Lot and Haden Park Parking Lot – 5% over the original contract amount and within the approved 5% contingency.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: The General Services Department recommends that City Council approve the final contract amount of $999,337.50 or 5% over the original contract amount, accept the work and authorize final payment to Level Infrastructure, LLC for construction services in connection with Braeburn Glen Park Parking Lot and Haden Park Parking Lot for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD). HPARD transferred a portion of Braeburn Glen Park to the Houston Fire Department for the parking lot expansion for Fire Station No. 68. In consideration for the partial land transfer, HFD funded construction of a new sidewalk entry from the park parking area.

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS:
Braeburn Glen Park: renovated park entrance which included a new sidewalk entry, concrete parking lot, security lighting, relocation of dumpster enclosure, landscape, and site improvements.
Haden Park: constructed a new concrete parking lot, security lighting, slide gates, tree planting, and site grading.
M2L Associates, Inc. was the design consultant for this project.
CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The contractor completed the project within 304 days: the original contract time of 150 days, plus 154 days approved by Change Orders. The final cost of the project including Change Orders is $999,337.50, an increase of $47,587.50 over the original contract amount.
PREVIOUS CHANGE ORDERS: Change Orders 1-6 removed and replaced curbing, power washed the existing walkway and wall, caulked joints between the existing walk and new curb, repaired and added fencing, provided a taller column at the park entry, installed bike racks, added a mid-rail to the fence for stability, and benches at Braeburn Glen Park. There were no change orders for Haden Park.
M/W/SBE PARTICIPATION: This contract is exempt from the M/WBE subcontracting provisions because the value of the contract did not exceed the threshold of $1 million required for a goal oriented contract as provided in §15-82 of the Houston Code of Ordinances.
