RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize a First Amendment to Parking License Agreement between CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC (Licensor) and the City of Houston (Licensee) at 1506 Central Street for the Southeast Operations Division of the Solid Waste Management Department.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: The Southeast Operations Division of the Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) has maintained a parking area on CenterPoint’s property located at 1506 Central Street, which is adjacent to the Central Street Neighborhood Depository/Recycling Center, as overflow parking for its garbage trucks and heavy trash collection vehicles, since 2013.
The original Parking License Agreement commenced on June 25, 2013, for an initial term of five-years at an annual rate of $5,985.00. The proposed First Amendment will renew and extend the term of the License for five-years at the same annual rate of $5,985.00, and increase the amount of acreage covered by the License. Either party has the right to terminate the License at any time by providing 60 days’ prior written notice. The amended Parking License Agreement shall commence on the date of countersignature by the City Controller. The City will be responsible for maintenance of the parking area.
All other terms and conditions of the original Parking License Agreement remain the same.
Therefore, the General Services Department recommends approval of a First Amendment to Parking License Agreement with CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC (Licensor) to expand and maintain a parking area on the licensed property at 1506 Central Street for the Southeast Operations Division of the SWMD.
OPERATING BUDGET FISCAL NOTE: Funding for this item is included in the FY 2018 Adopted Budget. Therefore, no Fiscal Note is required as stated in the Financial Policy Ordinance No. 2014-1078.
