RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended City Council approve an ordinance authorizing the abandonment and sale of Unity Drive, from Beverly Hill Lane to Skyline Drive, in exchange for a cash consideration of $852,389.00 and conveyance to the City of a 60 foot-wide utility easement, both out of the G.C. and S.F.R.R. Survey, Section One, A-997. Parcels SY17-063 and VY17-004
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: Houston Independent School District (HISD) requested the abandonment and sale of Unity Drive, from Beverly Hill Lane to Skyline Drive, in exchange for conveyance to the City of a 60 foot-wide utility easement, both out of the G.C. and S.F.R.R. Survey, Section One, A-997. HISD plans to expand the Robert E. Lee High School campus.
HISD has completed the transaction requirements, has accepted the City's offer, and has rendered payment in full.
The City will abandon and sell to HISD:
Parcel SY17-063
48,148 square feet of street easement $1,588,884.00
Valued at $33.00 per square foot x 100%
Plus the total depreciated value of asphalt
street pavement and concrete sidewalks and curbs $56,000.00
TOTAL ABANDONMENTS AND SALE $1,644,884.00
In exchange, HISD will pay:
Cash $852,389.00
Plus HISD will convey to the City:
Parcel VY17-004
48,030 square feet of utility easement $792,495.00
Valued at $33.00 per square foot x 50%
TOTAL CASH AND CONVEYANCE $1,644,884.00
Therefore, it is recommended City Council approve an ordinance authorizing the abandonment and sale of Unity Drive, from Beverly Hill Lane to Skyline Drive, in exchange for a cash consideration of $852,389.00 and conveyance to the City of a 60 foot-wide utility easement, both out of the G.C. and S.F.R.R.
