Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Director Houston Public Works for approval of final contract amount of $2,122,269.80 and acceptance of work on contract with SCOHIL CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, LLC for Water Line Replacement in Hughes Road Area - Package 1 - 6.18% under the original contract amount - DISTRICT D - BOYKINS

Background:

SUBJECT:  Accept Work for Water Line Replacement in Hughes Road Area – Package 1.

 

RECOMMENDATION:  (SUMMARY) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of $2,122,269.80 or 6.18% under the original Contract Amount, accept the Work and authorize final payment.

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION:  This project was part of the City’s Water Line Replacement Program and was required to replace and upgrade water lines within the City to increase availability of water, improve circulation and fire protection.

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE:  This project consisted of 30,690 linear feet of 8-inch diameter water lines, valves and appurtenances.  Quadrant Consultants, Inc. designed the project with 272 calendar days allowed for construction.  The project was awarded to Scohil Construction Services, LLC.  with an original Contract Amount of $2,262,026.00.

LOCATION:  The project area is generally bound by Hall Road on the north, Sageplum Drive on the south, Sagevalley Drive on the east and Sagecanyon Drive on the west.  The project is located in Key Map Grids 616A, B, & F.

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST:  The Contractor, Scohil Construction Services, LLC., has completed the work under the subject Contract.  The project was completed within the original contract time.  The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price quantities and previously approved change Order No. 1 is $2,122,269.80, a decrease of $139,756.20 or 6.18% under the original Contract Amount.  The decreased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities.

 

M/WSBE PARTICIPATION:  The M/WBE goal for this project was 20.00%.  The M/WBE plan established for this project was 20%. According to Office of Business Opportunity, the participation was 22.48%.  Contractor’s M/WBE performance evaluation was rated Outstanding.
