I am pleased to appoint Brenda W. Bazan as Director .of the Convention and Entertainment Facilities Department ("CEFD"), subject to confirmation by City Council pursuant to Section 12-3 of the Code of Ordinances.
Ms. Bazan has served as the CFO of Houston First Corporation since 2011, having previously held the position of Deputy Director of CEFD. In addition to her essential role in the areas of budget and finance, she has overseen divisions responsible for human resources, information technology, procurement, and general administration.
Having earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Western Kentucky University, Ms. Bazan came to Houston in 1984 to work for Deloitte & Touche as a Senior Manager. She has been a Certified Public Accountant more than 30 years. (A complete copy of her resume is enclosed.)
Ms. Bazan is a capable executive and proven leader who possesses both a keen intellect and commendable dedication to fiscal responsibility. I am confident that Ms. Bazan has the ability, experience and integrity to succeed, and I am hopeful that City Council will see fit to confirm her appointment.
