SUBJECT: Accept Work for Wastewater Process Unit Cleaning & Evaluation
RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $2,399,000.00, which is 100% of the original contract amount, accept the work, and authorize final payment.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: Under this project, the contractor removed, loaded, transported, and disposed accumulated solids/sand and grit from specific several wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations throughout the City. The contractor also performed condition evaluation of the cleaned process units and lift stations to identify the needed repair/rehabilitation.
DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of solids removal from wastewater facilities. The project was awarded to Industrial TX Corp. with an original contract amount of $2,399,000.00. The Notice to Proceed date was 07/15/2013, and the project duration had 425 calendar days for completion.
LOCATION: This work project was located at various locations within Council Districts A, B, D, and I.
CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The contractor, Industrial TX Corp. had completed the work under the contract. The contract was completed within the contract time. The final cost of the project is $2,399,000.00, exactly 100% of the original contract amount.
MWDBE PARTICIPATION: The MWDBE goal of this project was 18%. According to the Office of Business Opportunity, the actual participation was 28.13%. The contractor was awarded an “Outstanding” rating from the Office of Business Opportunity (OBO) for MWDBE participation based on the contractor’s efforts.
