Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Acting Director Department of Public Works & Engineering, for approval of final contract amount of $2,119,575.08 and acceptance of work on contract with DCE CONSTRUCTION, INC. for Water Line Replacement in Spring Woods South Area - 0.51% under the original contract amount - DISTRICT A - STARDIG

Background:

SUBJECT: Accept Work for Water Line Replacement in Spring Woods South Area.

 

RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of $2,119,575.08 or 0.51% under the original Contract Amount, accept the work and authorize final payment.

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project was part of the City’s Water Line Replacement Program and was required to replace and upgrade water lines within the City to increase availability of water, improve circulation and fire protection.

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: The project consisted of the construction of approximately 23,173 linear feet of 4-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch, and 16-inch diameter water lines, valves and appurtenances. Van De Wiele & Vogler, Inc. designed the project with 235 calendar days allowed for construction.  The project was awarded to DCE Construction, Inc. with an original Contract Amount of $2,130,354.55.

 

LOCATION: The project area is generally bound by Neuens Road on the north, Long Point Road on the south, Witte Road on the east, and Shadowdale Drive on the west. The project is located in Key Map Grids 450 S, 450 W, and 499 V.

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, DCE Construction, Inc., has completed the work under the subject Contract. The project was completed on time.  The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price quantities and previously approved Change Order No. 1 is $2,119,575.08, a decrease of $10,779.47 or 0.51% under the original Contract Amount. The decreased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities.

 

M/WSBE PARTICIPATION: The advertised M/WBE contract goal for this project was 20%.  The M/WBE plan established for this project was 20%.  According to Office of Business Opportunity, the participation was 26.23%. Contractor’s M/WBE performance evaluation was rated Outstanding.
