RECOMMENDATION from Acting Director Department of Public Works & Engineering, for approval of final contract amount of $8,216,902.48 and acceptance of work on contract with REYTEC CONSTRUCTION RESOURCES, INC for Solids Removal from Wastewater Facilities - 5.81% under the original contract amount - DISTRICT A - STARDIG

Background:

SUBJECT: Accept Work for Neighborhood Street Reconstruction (NSR) Project 464.

 

RECOMMENDATION: (SUMMARY) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of $8,216,902.48 or 5.81% under the original Contract Amount, accept the work and authorize final payment.

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project was part of the Capital Improvement Plan which replaced existing residential streets that were deteriorated beyond economical repair and normal maintenance and improved drainage.

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of the construction of reinforced concrete paving, sidewalks, drainage, potable water system, street lighting, and tree protection.  Scientech Engineers, Inc. designed the project with 430 calendar days allowed for construction. The project was awarded to Reytec Construction Resources, Inc. with an original Contract Amount of $8,723,899.70.

 

LOCATION: The project is located at various locations.  The project is located in Key Map Grids 451N, 451P, 451S, 451T and 451W.

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, Reytec Construction Resources, Inc., has completed the work under the subject Contract. The project was completed within the original Contract time with an additional 74 days approved by Change Order Nos. 1 and 3. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price quantities and previously approved Change Order Nos. 1 and 2 is $8,216,902.48, a decrease of $506,997.22 or 5.81% under the original Contract Amount. The decreased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities.

 

M/WSBE PARTICIPATION: The advertised M/WBE goal for this project was 18%. The M/WBE plan established for this project was 18%.  According to Office of Business Opportunity, the participation was 19.09%.  Contractor’s M/WBE performance evaluation was rated Outstanding.
