SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: The General Services Department recommends that City Council approve the final contract amount of $919,738.00 or 4.99% over the original contract amount, accept the work and authorize final payment to P2MG, LLC for construction services in connection with Burnett Bayland Skatepark for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department.
PROJECT LOCATION: 6000 Chimney Rock (Key Map No.531Q)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project constructed a new 17,500 square foot skatepark. The skatepark includes an entry plaza, walks and skate park with various features or tricks. The features include a volcano, bowl, upper decks, grind ledges, stairs and handrails, flat bars, various bank types, a quarter pipe and multiple steel pipes. The scope of work also included re-routing a portion of the existing trail, new electrical service, lighting, site grading, drainage and detention.
Clark Condon Associates, Inc. was the design consultant for this project.
CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The contractor completed the project within the original contract time of 180 days. The final cost of the project including Change Orders is $919,738.00, an increase of $43,738.00 over the original contract amount.
PREVIOUS CHANGE ORDERS: Change Orders Numbers 1 – 2 relocated the electrical service; installed an additional 8’ of concrete sidewalk; furnished and installed five bald cypress trees in the detention area; and furnished and installed 55,000 sq. ft. of solid sod Bermuda grass.
