Summary:

ORDINANCE finding and determining that public convenience and necessity no longer require the continued use of two 10-foot-wide fire hydrant easements, situated in the John Austin Survey, A-1, Harris County, Texas; abandoning the easements to BKR Memorial II, LLC, the abutting owner, in consideration of its payment of $16,110.00 to the City of Houston, Texas, and other consideration - DISTRICT H - CISNEROS

Background:

SUBJECT: Ordinance authorizing the abandonment and sale of two 10 foot-wide fire hydrant easements, both located in the Memorial Heights Re-Development Plat, out of the John Austin Survey, A-1.  Parcels SY16-093A and SY16-093B

RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) It is recommended City Council approve an ordinance authorizing the abandonment and sale of two 10 foot-wide fire hydrant easements, in exchange for a consideration of $16,110.00, both located in the Memorial Heights Re-Development Plat, out of the John Austin Survey, A-1.  Parcels SY16-093A and SY16-093B

SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: Mr. Gerald W. Grissom, Brown & Gay Engineers, Inc.,10777 Westheimer Road, Suite 400, Houston, Texas, 77042, on behalf of BKR Memorial II, LLC (Sharin A. Scott, Manager), requested the abandonment and sale of two 10 foot-wide fire hydrant easements, both located in the Memorial Heights Re-Development Plat, out of the John Austin Survey, A-1.  BKR Memorial II, LLC, the abutting property owner, plans to incorporate the abandonment areas into its abutting property for construction of a mid-rise retail and multi-family development.  The Joint Referral Committee reviewed and approved this request.

BKR Memorial II, LLC, has complied with the transaction requirements, has accepted the City’s offer, and has rendered payment in full.

Parcel SY16-093A    

83 square-foot fire hydrant easement:

Valued at $90.00 per square foot @ 100%

Parcel SY16-093B    

96 square-foot fire hydrant easement:

Valued at $90.00 per square foot @ 100%

  $ 8,640.00
     
TOTAL ABANDONMENT AND SALE   $16,110.00

 

Therefore, it is recommended City Council approve an Ordinance authorizing the abandonment and sale of two 10 foot-wide fire hydrant easements, both located in the Memorial Heights Re-Development Plat, out of the John Austin Survey, A-1.
