Summary:

ORDINANCE appropriating $185,000.00 out of Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund for purchase of Information Technology Hardware for the City of Houston/Harris County Joint Processing Center for Municipal Courts Department

Background:

The Director of the Municipal Courts Department recommends that City Council approve an ordinance authorizing the appropriation of $185,000 out of the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund (1800).

 

The appropriation will provide funding for the purchase of IT-related equipment for the Courts not included in the overall JPC costs. This includes facility connectivity requirements to assist with IT integration with the business, standard hardware setups in the courtroom, cashier and office areas per COH and PCI compliance standards.

Also included is the planned replacement of the video arraignment equipment that allows for remote processing of incarcerated individuals from an alternate location. The current video arraignment system has exceeded its useful life, the technology is outdated, and some of the components were damaged in the recent flooding event.
