SUBJECT: Petition for the City’s consent to the addition of two tracts of land totaling 142.14 acres to Fort Bend Municipal Utility District No. 50 (Key Map No. 525 P, Q, & U).
RECOMMENDATION: Petition for the City’s consent to the addition of two tracts of land totaling 142.14 acres to Fort Bend Municipal Utility District No. 50 be approved.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: Fort Bend Municipal Utility District No. 50 has petitioned the City of Houston for consent to add two tracts of land totaling 142.14 acres, located in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City, to the district.
The Utility District Review Committee has evaluated the application with respect to wastewater collection and treatment, potable water distribution, storm water conveyance, and other public services.
The district is located in the vicinity of Highway 90, Canal Road, Bellaire Boulevard, and Peek Road. The district desires to add two tracts of land totaling 142.14 acres, thus yielding a total of 1,462.223 acres. The district is served by a district plant, the Fort Bend MUD 50 Interim Wastewater Treatment Facility. The nearest major drainage facility for Fort Bend Municipal Utility District No. 50 is Oyster Creek, which flows into Flat Bank Creek, then into the Brazos River, and finally into the Gulf of Mexico.
Potable water is provided by the district. By executing the Petition for Consent, the district has acknowledged that all plans for the construction of water conveyance, wastewater collection, and storm water collection systems within the district must be approved by the City of Houston prior to their construction.
The Utility District Review Committee recommends that the subject petition be approved.
