PLN - Special Minimum Building Line Block App 236 (600 Block of Oxford Street, west side)

Agenda Item#: 30.

Summary:

ORDINANCE establishing the west side of the 600 Block of Oxford Street, within the City of Houston, Texas as a special minimum building line block pursuant to chapter 42 of the Code of Ordinances, Houston, Texas - DISTRICT C - COHEN

Background:

In accordance with Section 42-170 of the Code of Ordinances, the property owner of Lot 4, Block 281, of the Houston Heights 70th Amendment Subdivision initiated an application for the designation of a Special Minimum Building Line Block (SMBLB). The application includes written evidence of support from the owners of 72% of the block. The Planning and Development Department mailed notifications to 9 property owners indicating that the SMBLB application had been submitted. The notification further stated that written protest must be filed with the Planning and Development Department within thirty days of mailing. In accordance with the Code, since no protest was filed, no action was required by the Houston Planning Commission in order to submit the application to City Council.

The Planning and Development Department recommends that City Council adopt an ordinance establishing a Special Minimum Building Line of 15 feet for the 600 block of Oxford Street, west side.
