| | | | | | | | Background: SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: The General Services Department recommends that City Council approve the final contract amount of $1,026,284.18 or 7.98% over the original contract amount, accept the work and authorize final payment to Millis Development and Construction, Inc. for construction services in connection with Grady Park for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department.
PROJECT LOCATION: 1700 Yorktown (Key Map No.491-Q)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The scope of work included demolition of the concrete sidewalks/small basketball pad and a small gazebo; removal of existing site furnishings and a few trees; installation of concrete sidewalks; half basketball court; concrete seat-walls; new site furnishings; site grading, drainage and detention; realignment of the decomposed granite trail with new concrete edging; relocation of the existing playground equipment; shade canopy at playground; installation of trees; and installation of irrigation.
SWA Group was the design consultant for this project.
CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The contractor completed the project within 222 days: the original contract time of 180 days, plus 42 days approved by Change Orders. The final cost of the project including Change Orders is $1,026,284.18, an increase of $75,805.00 over the original contract amount.
PREVIOUS CHANGE ORDERS: Change Orders Numbers 1 - 3 replaced existing sidewalk at parking lot entry; installed new black vinyl coated chain-link fence for the tennis court; replaced decomposed granite with turfgrass at the plaza sidewalk; refurbished the existing tennis court light poles; restriped the parking lot; installed six an additional six trash receptacles; and added non-compensable days to the contract due to inclement weather.
