RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) It is recommended City Council Amend Ordinance Number 2017-237 which passed on April 5, 2017, to authorize and approve the acquisition of Parcels AY17-246 and DY17-007 for the CHELFORD CITY DIVERSION PACKAGE 1 LIFT STATION PROJECT (from the 13000 Block of Westpark Drive to the 13000 Block of Richmond Avenue) by dedication, purchase, or condemnation.

SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:

This project is a part of the City’s ongoing program to upgrade, rehabilitate, replace, consolidate or divert wastewater lift station facilities throughout the City. The subject project is the first of three phases to eliminate nine aging lift stations. This project consolidation will reduce operation and maintenance costs associated with multiple aging lift stations and their force main systems. Additionally, this project will facilitate diversion of wastewater flows from the project area, currently treated by the Chelford City Municipal Utility District Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Upper Braes Wastewater Treatment Plant. The proposed improvements will bring the wastewater system within the area to current standards.

By Ordinance Number 2017-237, City Council authorized and approved the acquisition of Parcels by dedication, purchase, or condemnation for the CHELFORD CITY DIVERSION PACKAGE 1 LIFT STATION PROJECT (from the 13000 Block or Westpark Drive to the 13000 Block of Richmond Avenue). Since that ordinance passed Parcel AY17-246 was added as a temporary construction easement to be used for the storage of equipment and materials during construction, and Parcel DY17-007 was added as a required sanitary sewer easement.

Therefore, it is recommended that Council Ordinance Number 2017-237 be amended to include Parcels AY17-246 and DY17-007.
