SUBJECT: Accept Work for Wastewater System/Substitute Service Support – Burgoyne and Lombardy.
RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of
$1,353,601.10, which is 0.39% under the original contract amount, accept the work, and authorize final payment.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project was part of the Neighborhood Back Lot Wastewater Substitute Service Program and was required to provide the relocation of sanitary sewer service lines from back lots to front lots.
DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of the relocation of sanitary sewer service lines for 201 properties in various locations within the City of Houston. The relocations included the abandonment of sewer laterals to the back lot sewer mains, the construction of new sewer service leads on existing sewer mains within the street right-of-way, and the connection of new sewer laterals to sewer service leads within the street right-of-way. The project was awarded to Grava, LLC with an original contract amount of $1,358,955.00. The Notice to Proceed date was 08/1/2013 and the project had 365 calendar days for completion.
LOCATION: The project area included properties located on Burgoyne Dr., Del Monte Dr., Chevy Chase Dr., Meadow Lake Ln., Piping Rock Ln., Ella Lee Ln., Overbrook Ln., Wickersham Ln., Locke Ln., Rusk St., Kipling St., Marshall St., S. Shepherd Dr., Greenbriar Dr., Newman Dr., Lombardy St., Gulf Fwy., Hemlock St., Williford St., Junior St., and Westheimer Rd. This project was located in Key Map Grids 490R and V, 494T and X, 534B, and 535F.
CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The contractor, Grava, LLC, has completed the work under the contract. The contract was completed within the contract time. The final cost of the project is $1,353,601.10, a decrease of $5,353.90 or 0.39% under the original contract amount. One service was found to already be connected, so no reconnection was needed at that location.
MWDBE PARTICIPATION: The MWDBE goal for this project was 18%. According to the Office of Business Opportunity, the actual participation was 23.78%. The contractor was awarded an “Outstanding” rating from the Office of Business Opportunity.
