SUBJECT: Water Supply Contract for Treated Water for City of Galena Park.
RECOMMENDATION: Water Supply Contract for Treated Water for City of Galena Park be approved.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: As allowed by Chapter 47 of the City of Houston Code of Ordinances, the City of Galena Park has requested to enter into a Treated Water Supply Contract with the City of Houston. The initial minimum monthly contract amount is 20 million gallons of water per month, with a maximum of 35 million gallons of water per month.
This contract charges rates for treated water as specified in the City of Houston Code of Ordinances, Section 47-61(f). The base rate is currently $2.98 per thousand gallons.
The contract has been designed to address water shortages, encourage water supply management, and provide flexibility to better respond to development demands and drought conditions. The City of Galena Park will be required to meet all regulatory requirements.
Houston Water has evaluated the request and found that the water supply and delivery system is adequate to provide the requested quantities.
