Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Director General Services Department for approval of final contract amount of $239,215.00 and acceptance of work on contract with PROGRESSIVE COMMERCIAL AQUATICS, INC for Bob Smith and Hermann Park South Plaza Fountains - 3.00% over the original contract amount and under the 5% contingency - DISTRICTS D - BOYKINS and I - GALLEGOS

Background:
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: The General Services Department recommends that City Council approve the final contract amount of $239,215.00 or 3.00% over the original contract amount, accept the work and authorize final payment to Progressive Commercial Aquatics, Inc. for construction services in connection with fountain renovations at Bob Smith and Hermann Park South Plaza Fountains for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The scope of work consisted of the following improvements:

Hermann Park South Plaza Fountain: Removed and replaced the fountain mechanical system, including filters and fountain nozzles, and installed a secondary sanitation system.

Bob Smith Park Fountain: Removed and replaced the fountain pipes and nozzles and repainted the fountain basin.

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The contractor completed the project within 155 days: the original contract time of 120 days plus 35 days approved by Change Order. The final cost of the project, including Change Order No. 1 is $ 239,215.00, an increase of $6,965.00 over the original contract amount.

PREVIOUS CHANGE ORDER: Change Order No. 1 added a chemical control system to the Hermann Park South Plaza Fountain to operate safely for the public, and added non-compensable days to the contract due to inclement weather.
