SUBJECT: Approval of an Ordinance to temporarily add five streets to the Harris County Road Log.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve an Ordinance supporting a request from Harris County to temporarily add five streets to the Harris County Road Log.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: Harris County, in cooperation with the City of Houston desires to improve segments of five streets currently within the jurisdiction of the City. In order for Harris County to prepare engineering plans and specifications for the project, the City of Houston must temporarily transfer these streets to the Harris County Road Log. Upon completion of the construction, the streets will be returned to the jurisdiction of the City for maintenance.
PROJECT SCOPE: Precinct 1 has proposed to assist the City with improving the following streets by replacing cracked and/or broken concrete pavement, cleaning and sealing pavement joints, removing and replacing concrete curbs, repairing storm sewer inlets, repairing and /or replacing sidewalks, and related appurtenances.
Bellfort Road from State Highway 288 to Martin Luther King Boulevard
Crosstimbers Road from IH 45 to Shepherd Drive
Homestead Road from Laura Koppe to Parker
Yellowstone Boulevard from State Highway 288 to Scott Street
Buffalo Speedway from West Fuqua Street to Anderson Road
In addition, the County has proposed to design (utilities not included) and construct the undeveloped segment of Buffalo Speedway just north of West Fuqua Street to Anderson Road. All of the proposed design and construction efforts, for all the roadways, will be in accordance with City standards.

ACTION RECOMMENDED: It is recommended that City Council approve an Ordinance supporting the temporary transfer of the segments of five streets to the Harris County Road Log.
