Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Director Department of Public Works & Engineering for approval of final contract amount of $2,521,897.65 and acceptance of work on contract with CLEANSERVE, INC, for Sewer Stoppage Cleaning and Television Inspection - 0.01% over the original contract amount (WW5100-02)

Background:

SUBJECTAccept Work for Sewer Stoppage Cleaning and Television Inspection (UMB), CleanServe, Inc., File No. WW5100-02.

 

RECOMMENDATION:  (Summary)  Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $2,521,897.65, which is 0.01% over the original contract amount and under the 5% contingency amount, accept the work, and authorize final payment.

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION:  Under this project, the contractor provided sewer stoppage cleaning and television inspection of sanitary sewers throughout the City.

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE:  This project consisted of sewer stoppages, cleaning of sanitary sewers and manholes, and television inspection of sanitary sewers.  The project was awarded to CleanServe, Inc. with an original contract amount of $2,521,680.00. The Notice to Proceed date was 3/05/2012 and the project had two years, with one-year option to renew, for a total of three years for completion.

 

LOCATION:  The work order project area was located at various locations within Council Districts A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J and K.

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST:  The contractor, CleanServe, Inc., has completed the work under the contract.  The contract was completed within the contract time. The final cost of the project is $2,521,897.65, an increase of $217.65 or 0.01% over the original contract amount. More television inspection was needed than anticipated.

 

MWDBE PARTICIPATIONThe MWDBE goal for this project was 18%.  According to the Office of Business Opportunity, the actual participation was 19.11%. The contractor was awarded a “Satisfactory” rating from the Office of Business Opportunity.

No additional funding required.

 

Original appropriation of $2,657,764.00 for construction and contingencies from Water and Sewer System Operating Fund No. 8300.
