Specific Explanation:
The City Purchasing Agent recommends that City Council approve the purchase of community/disaster preparedness education/outreach programs through the Interlocal Agreement for Cooperative Purchasing with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) in the amount of $956,231.50 for the Mayor's Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security and that authorization be given to issue a purchase order to the cooperative purchasing contractor Gilbreath Communications, Inc.
The programs will be in multiple languages and will include materials, collateral for the development, production and marketing of the Ready Houston Preparedness Kit Chef Challenge. It will also include MayDay event assistance, hurricane workshop assistance, online training programs and outreach for School Ready and Neighborhood Ready programs.
Hire Houston First:
This procurement is exempt from the City's Hire Houston First Ordinance. Bids/proposals were not solicited because the Department is utilizing an Interlocal or Cooperatvie Purchasing Agreement for this purchase.
