2015-272 - ORDINANCE approving and authorizing agreement between the City of Houston and the HOUSTON HOUSING AUTHORITY to provide a grant of $450,000.00 of Federal Community Development Block Grant Funds for Improvements to Allen Parkway Village and the Historic Oaks of Allen Parkway Village, Housing Communities located in the Houston, Texas, near 1600 Allen Parkway, Houston, that primarily serve low to moderate income households - DISTRICT C - COHEN

The Historic Oaks of Allen Parkway Village and Allen Parkway Village are in need of the following improvements:

1. Replacement of equipment to five playgrounds to make them ADA accessible
2. Re-configuration of the exit gate at Crosby Street to an entrance/exit gate
3. Replacement of the call boxes (intercom system) located in the buildings restricted to seniors
4. Installation of surveillance cameras at the entry points of the senior buildings

The Historic Oaks of Allen Parkway Village and Allen Parkway Village were respectively constructed/rehabilitated 15 years ago and the above listed improvements will provide a much needed upgrade. Also, the City is re-configuring Allen Parkway and as a result, the Crosby Street exit must be re-configured as the entrance/exit to the housing complex.

In exchange for the CDBG funding, Houston Housing Authority will restrict 51% of the units for five years, on behalf of the City of Houston.
