Summary:

2015-0213 - RECOMMENDATION from Director, Department of Public Works and Engineering, for approval of final cost of $3,258,232.29 and acceptance of work on contract with PM CONSTRUCTION & REHAB, L.P., for sanitary sewer rehabilitation by sliplining and pipe bursting methods, WBS# R-000266-0167-4 (WW4257-120) - 0.70% over the original contract amount - Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund No. 8500.

Background:

SUBJECT:  Accept Work for Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation by Sliplining and Pipe Bursting Methods - PM Construction & Rehab, L.P. -   WBS# R-000266-0167-4  

 

RECOMMENDATION:  (Summary)  Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $3,258,232.29, which is 0.70% over the original contract amount and under the 5% contingency amount, accept the work, and authorize final payment.  

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: Under this project, the contractor provided sanitary sewer rehabilitation by sliplining and pipe bursting methods to deteriorated sewer collection systems throughout the City.  

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of sanitary sewer rehabilitation by sliplining and pipe bursting methods. The project was awarded to PM Construction & Rehab, L.P. with an original contract amount of $3,235,430.61. The Notice to Proceed date was 09/22/2011 and the project had 540 calendar days for completion.  

 

LOCATION:  The work order project area was located at various locations within Council Districts B, I and K.  

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST:  The contractor, PM Construction & Rehab, L.P., has completed the work under the contract.  The contract was completed within the contract time. The final cost of the project is $3,258,232.29, an increase of $22,801.68 or 0.70% over the original contract amount. More point repairs were needed than anticipated.   The final amount of this work order contract was not affected by Change Order No. 1 and No. 2.  

 

MWDBE PARTICIPATION:  The MWDBE goal for this project was 21%.  According to the Office of Business Opportunity, the actual participation was 29.69%. The contractor was awarded an “Outstanding” rating from the Office of Business Opportunity.

No additional funding required.

Original appropriation of $3,457,202.00 for construction and contingencies from Water and Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund No. 8500.
