HAS - Reimbursable Agreement for Design Review - Relocation of ASOS Design Package at Hobby

Agenda Item#: 23.

Summary:

ORDINANCE appropriating $50,000.00 out of Airports Improvement Fund and approving and authorizing Reimbursable Agreement between the City of Houston and the FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION for Design Review related to the Relocation of Automated Surface Observation System Design Package at William P. Hobby Airport - DISTRICT I - GALLEGOS

Background:

The FAA has determined that the construction of a new hangar by Southwest will impact the functionality of equipment they have installed at Hobby and relocation is therefore required as part of the overall project.  Additionally, the FAA requires that this agreement be made) with another governmental entity which prevents Southwest from contracting with the FAA directly.  In order to facilitate this relocation and prevent delays in the Southwest construction schedule, the City of Houston will contract with the FAA

The hanger project will impact the Automated Surface Observation System (ASOS) at Hobby and will have to be relocated.  The FAA requires review of any designs related to this move be conducted by FAA personnel and that the expenses for the review be paid by the contracting entity.  Per the agreement, HAS will pay the FAA $150,000.00 for this design review.  This amount is based on the FAA’s estimate of the cost which is as follows:
